Re: platinum grey 3.5 drives and accelerated IIe

Hi Steve,

I've always used those drives on my unaccellerated Platinum IIe.

P.S. This message was sent directly to you, but bounced back as undeliverable

>PLATINUM GREY 3.5" 800k DRIVES AND ACCELERATED IIE?

I have a IIe with 8 MHz zip chip. I am aware that the platinum
Apple 3.5 drives do not work with the IIe because the IIe is too slow to
handle the data transfer rate.

I have a "LIRON" Apple card to operate the white Unidisk 3.5
drive. But would the Liron operate a platinum 3.5 drive if the IIe is
accelerated?

If no one knows for sure, would there be any risk in connecting
the drives to find out? What about the platinum 3.5 drive "clones" such
as the AE 800K disk?

NOTE: The IIe _does_ operate the platinum 3.5 drive if the interface card
is a Laser UDC card, or the OKS Multicache drive controller card.
