Help! Apple IIgs's donated to School but need Sys Software!

Hello all,

I am in need of your expertise in helping me with some Apple IIgs
problems. I donate my time to the school system here to help with the
computers they use. In real life I'm a MIS guy for a local company
and since my kids go to school here...you get the idea. I grew up
mostly with Apple IIe's and Commodore 64's so I'm a bit lost on the
Apple IIgs.

We had about a dozen Apple IIgs's donated with 256k of ram, 1 monitor,
keyboard, mouse, ROM01, 3.5" drive, and a 5.25" drive. All work fine.
One unlabeled disk came in one of the drives that boots to System 3.2
(white text on a blue background). No books, manuals, on any other
useful tools. :-) On the plus side I have aT1 line at work for
downloading software that the school can use, a whole slew of Macs
(from 512k to Mac IIx's), a Mac emulator on my PC laptop (Basilisk
great emulator BTW) which I can format mac zip disks and then use on a
Mac II with a zip drive to xfer software I dl, and of course the
collective knowledge that you folks have! ;-)

I grabbed System 6.0.1 off of Apple's site but I was told that I don't
have enough memory to run Sys 6 and I should download Sys 5. However
I can't find Sys 5 anywhere...sigh. I figured that Apple would have
Sys 5 as well on their site since they have multiple versions of
software for the Macs...but I digress here.

Which also leads us to another problem about Shrinkit. I went from
never hearing of it before to spending hours trying to get it (which I
did) and looking for Shrinkit II for the Mac. I can't believe
somebody else doesn't have a program that will decompress it.

This is where I'm at. I can't run shrinkit because I don't have
anything above Sys 3.2 on disk. There are lots of program avail on
the net (well except Sys 5) in .sdk format (which I think is a
shrinkit format) that I can download, transfer to prodos disk format
through the mac, but can't decompress on the IIgs because of shrinkit.

What do you folks think I should do? I'm only trying to get some
system software to boot these up, download some useful programs that
the kids can use, transfer them over in some kind of readable format
to the mac so I can either make disks out of the images or write
directly, then xfer them to the IIGs, and make everyone happy. :)
And maybe world peace.

Thanks!
Mark
