Form Feed is the self test command.  (Hold it down while turning the
printer on.)

Definitely.  Quite a useful feature if you are trying to debug a printer
driver or program which outputs formatted printer data, otherwise it is
pretty useless.

It is the SELECT button which you hold down while turning the printer
on, not Line Feed (I was thinking of another printer).

This feature isn't documented in the Owner's Guide, but it is covered in
the Technical Reference.
