Hi. The name of the hardware is the Second Sight SVGA
card from http://www.sequential.com/ Sequential Systems.
One of the best pieces of hardware I ever got for my IIGS
(I got mine years ago). It is basically an overhaul of the
IIGS video system, providing a VGA chip and a meg of
video memory. The card can generate resolutions of up
to 1024x768 and colors up to 24-bit (1024x768 with 256
or 640x480 with 24-bit color). It'll also faithfully reproduce
the IIGS standard modes but with the black scan lines
removed to make the image more solid. In text mode,
the fonts look a lot sharper and more solid too.

I have my IIGS on an SVGA monitor and my eyes feel a
lot better. ;-) It is also nice to display JPEG, GIF, TIF,
and IFF files in their original resolutions plus a couple of
IIGS games and programs use the extra modes.

Sequential provides an adapter should you want to use
their SVGA card with an Apple brand Mac monitor.
