Felt the same way a few months back when I first tried out our TrackStar E
board. Even with misadjusted video, it was great to see that the thing worked!

A good composite color monitor will usually outperform a typical TV. However,
for clear 80 column and super-res displays, an RGB monitor is best. Reports on using
the 1084 vary. (See http://home.swbell.net/rubywand/Csa2MONITOR.html#015 .)
Your best bet is likely to be a used IIgs RGB monitor. These are available from
a number of sources, including Alltech ($79), on-line autions, and
comp.sys.apple2.marketplace. (See the Vendors listing at
http://home.swbell.net/rubywand/A2FAQs3VENDORS.html#020 .)

A good way to get DOS 3.3 and ProDOS is on bootable shrinked disks-- usually
files ending in ".sdk"; or, you can transfer .dsk disk images. For example, for a
bootable DOS 3.3 disk with utilities you could download and transfer TnilUtil.sdk or
TnilUtil.dsk. For a bootable ProDOS disk with utilities, you could download and
transfer PDUtil.sdk or PDUtil.dsk. You can find these on ACN Tarnover at
ftp://tarnover.dyndns.org/cabi/Utilities/ .
For info about file utilities see
http://home.swbell.net/rubywand/Csa2FLUTILS.html .

No bother
For a listing of major Apple II software and information sites see
http://home.swbell.net/rubywand/A2FAQs4MAJORSITES.html .
For information about transfer programs like ADT and how to use them see
http://home.swbell.net/rubywand/Csa2T1TCOM.html . Details for using the programs are
usually included in the .zip file along with the program.
After chewing on this stuff there are likely to be more questions (comments,
etc.). That sort of thing is what this newsgroup is for.
