I ask because the .nib disk images in the Asimov directory posted
above do work in AppleWin, and I found this information in a textfile
in an old archive I have:
Alternate Reality: The Dungeon Disk Images
This is a new set of .nib images. The images were prepared
from .dsk disk images produced from unprotected diskettes using
Ninjaforce's Asimov v1.3.
The reason .nib images are required is not copy protection.
Except for Disk 1: Side 1, the AR-Dungeon diskettes are not
copy protected; and a deprotected copy of Disk 1: Side 1 was
created using the simple patch outlined by Michael Horton in
Computist #50.
The AR-Dungeon disks must be on .nib images because the game
uses volume numbers to identify disks. A .nib image preserves
volume numbering; whereas, .dsk images do not.
The disks in this set are ...
D1.nib (V#16)- Disk 1: Side 1
D1b.nib (V#17)- Disk 1: Side 2
D2.nib (V#18)- Disk 2 (Side 1 is the only side used)
Char.nib (V#20)- A Character Disk with space for four characters
All of the game disk images are write-protected via setting each
.nib file's Read Only property to On. The Character Disk is not
write-protected.
-----
I don't know if that helps at all. I haven't transferred the .nib
images back to real floppy to test them. I suppose I could, if you
think that might help.
