That's a good approach. Try it with the socketted chips, starting with
any that are close to where the keyboard connector is on the motherbd.
You can also eyeball the traces coming from the keyboard connector on
the motherbd and see where they go. If you spot a drop of spilled coke,
mouse urine, or whatever shorting those traces, clean it off. That's
about as far as you should take it, the early IIc's weren't very good
anyway, and you can probably pick up a replacement for $5 at a flea
market, rummage sale, etc.
