Either one, sort of.

I've used a SCSI-IDE + IDE-CF/SD setup, and although silent, I couldn't get faster performance than a standard loud SCSI drive.  It's still fast, but my original expectation was that it would be faster.

Then there are the SCSI-PCMCIA adapters you could use with a standard PCMCIA-CF adapter.  I think the brand or model was like MCDISK-???.
