Error #8 is usually an "I/O Error".
Checking the stuff mentioned by BluPhoenyx (same baud rate, trying a lower
speed, etc.) may turn up something.
However, since you are getting an "OK" message on the transfers, it sounds
like the telecom setup is working. (A quick check is whether or not you get a
directory for the PC on your Apple IIe screen when you press "D" when running ADT.)
In your description of checks after the download, you do not mention trying to
boot the diskette. This is, really, the best check for a disk which is supposed to
be bootable because not all disks can be CATALOGed.
Something else which could be causing problems is the DOS you are running when
doing a CATALOG. The ZLINK disk is a ProDOS disk. If you are running DOS 3.3 and
try to CATALOG a ProDOS disk, you are going to get errors. This would happen for a
CATALOG command you type in and for a CATALOG when running a DOS 3.3 version of
Copy II Plus.
Cool! I just tried booting DOS 3.3 and doing a CATALOG of the ZLINK disk
transferred this morning. It showed Volume 101 and game me an I/O ERROR. So, my
guess is that you got a good transfer but checked it under the wrong DOS. Try
booting a ProDOS disk and doing a CAT of the transferred disk (or, just try booting
the transferred disk).
