Interesting. Does your collection include shareware, freeware, and PD
games? I'm asking because there were a couple of IIGS games that
were written and released as such because a publisher could not be
found. Cosmocade, by Brian Greenstone, comes to mind, as does
several others (Space Clusters, Sensei Karate, Dueltris, etc). I feel that
any comprehensive collection of games should include the big shareware,
freeware, and PD ones.
Cosmocade was written by the same people who went on to write
Nanosaurs (the game that's included with the iMac) for Macs.
Greenstone and his partner could not find a publisher for the game,
so it was released as shareware.
Dueltris is a shareware game from DreamWorld software, the folks
who brought us DreamGraphix.
Let's not forget Brutal Deluxe. Tinies for the IIGS may be freeware,
but remember, the Mac version is commercial. ;-) Cogito is much
the same way and the IIGS version now works with the Second
Sight card to display SVGA graphics on the IIGS.
To not include such high quality games would be a crime. They
are as good as any of the commercial games released.
