But he has 3,000 files. A null-modem connection is likely tediously slow.
The disk option seems better. The IIGS OS, GS/OS, is file system
independent (like Linux). It uses whatever file systems it has FSTs
(file system translators) for. These FSTs are like plug ins. Drop one
in and presto, the IIGS can use a new file system. Since it has
both ProDOS and HFS FSTs, it can use either the IIc's or the Mac's
format.
In fact, most of my hard drive partitions and Zip disks are in HFS
format on the IIGS! It is the better file system.
If he must do it by cable, AppleTalk is superior to null modem. On
the IIGS, null modem is limited to 56k, but AppleTalk goes up to
230k (about the speed of a 3.5" disk drive), which is much faster.
