I just wanted to remind everyone that the entire contents of the Apple II
oriented Shareware Solutions II newsletter are copyrighted.
Since Shareware Solutions II is my sole source of income, I've never
authorized anyone to reprint or republish any of the articles (except for
Big Red Computer Club and Softdisk, both of whom paid me quite well) and I
never will.
Fair use does allow quotes from articles, but generally those are limited
to a sentence or two, and most of the time, fair use quotes are used only
in reviews. Posting an entire article from Shareware Solutions II not only
blantantly violates my copyright, it's a real disservice to myself, to
my subscribers, and to all Apple II users.
As it is, Shareware Solutions II has provided ongoing coverage for years
on how to use high quality printers with the Apple II. Had the person who
posted my copyrighted article been a subscriber, his question about Epsons
would have been answered a long, long time ago. He could have also just
simply asked his question without violating anyone's copyright, and maybe
even gotten a detailed answer from the publisher of Harmonie.
Shareware Solutions II is one of two remaining newsletters still published
for the Apple II. As I've said many times before, I intend to continue
publishing it for a long, long time.
However, seeing my copyrighted article on csa2 really forced me to take a
good hard look at what I do, and it made me, for the first time ever,
seriously question the future of SSII.
If you love the Apple II, show a little respect for the few remaining
publishers and programmers who continue to slave away as a labor of love.
Don't take advantage of those folks who give so much, or one day they may
all just throw in the towel, just as Bev Cadieux has apparently done just
very recently.
Bev posted a message here months ago where she talked about staying up
until 3AM, doing work on her Apple II, only to be met with hostility from
people who make 10 or 20 times the amount she makes. I sure could relate
to that.
In any case, please show a little restraint and have a little respect for
other people's Apple II copyrights. Please respect the copyrights of
Shareware Solutions II.
Shareware Solutions II is an Apple II general interest 20 page newsletter
that's been published since mid-1993. You can read about the subscription
options, and about all the Apple II and IIGS software published by
