It is true that "rare" term is often used.
To be fair, some items may *be* rare (ie, hard-to-find) in the area where
the potential bidder is located, though that doesn't excuse misuing the
term -- though as we say, "rare" on ebay means little.
But to toss "dishonest people" in the ebay discussion is pretty unfair.
