I have not kept up with the software available for the Second Sight
card. There are a few programs available for it. I understand there are
a few people working on a Quicktime patch which would allow more
software to be written for it.
The GS version of the card is a 1Mb card. As I understand it you can
program the card for various resolutions (upto 1024x768) and pixel
depths as long as it all fits into the 1Mb limit. I don't know about Mac
monitors but as long as your PC monitor can handle 1024x768 then the
size doesn't matter to the hardware.
Does purchasing one make sense... It depends on what you want to do. If
you want a replacement monitor and can't find a cheap enough GS monitor
then yes. If you want to do some development work and are looking for
something to keep your interest for a long time then yes. The only times
it would not make sense is if your current set up is more than adequate
for your needs, you were hoping to make a lot of money, or you don't
have the money for the card and monitor.
