For sure!!! As Mike Westerfield also indicates, 800k 3.5" Floppies are
DSDD [Double-Sided Double-Density] Floppies. 720k Floppies for DOS are
the same thing, you just have to re-format them. This means that yes,
these floppies are more available than I had anticipated. Nobody seems
to have any clue about 800k disks, but they do seem a lot more
familiar with 720k disks. In fact, when I was phoning around looking
for 800k disks, I was offered 720k disks a few times, but I declined
thinking that these were different than 800k floppies. Unfortunately,
before this remarkable bit of Lore was made clear to me, I
mail-ordered pre-formatted 800k disks from Buy.com at an
altogether-certain $premium$. Live and Learn!!!
