If it's an MFM drive, it likely requires +5 and +12VDC. The current
requirements on some of the older full-height units can be substantial,
so make sure you power it with something reasonably hefty. A PC power
supply will probably do the trick.
Not following the rest of your description, particularly to the part
about the three wires. Can you post pictures of what you actually have
there?
