trying to get an Apple II GS going for fun...

Hi I don't know if anyone will be into giving me a little advice (it
sure would be rockin' tho!!!): I picked up an old Apple ][GS at a
rummage sale for $10 (CDN) complete with monitor, keyboard, mouse,
cables and 3.5" external floppy drive.

I am into computers and this is my little "adopt-an-apple" project, to
get it going for the benefit of computer science, heheh!

I fire it up and it beeps into life, but then she dont wanna do no
more without a boot disk. It needs a boot disk I reason because it
doesn't have a Hard Drive or anything to give it any shell
instructions.

So basically what I need is to be able to start it up. Trouble is: I
have searched the internet for files and I am confused as to what I
need. I have seen files and references for something called ProDOS and
I found some files on the Apple web site which seem to relate to the
][GS, but ???

Also, the startup screen says it is ROM build 01 which as I understand
is a later ROM version than the original "Woz" signature edition.

To further complicate the matter I am a PC user and all my disks are
formatted for IBM. I was thinkin about trying to find a PC app that
will format Apple floppies, but I could be wasting my time. I don't
know what file to have sitting on the boot disk anyways.

Can any kind user or users help?
