Re: TWGS bad cable symptoms/AUX connector?

Actually I've had the RamFAST for years with my TWGS without problems. The
problem begun right after I converted my Vulcan drive to a SCSI based drive.
I can't remember exactly when but occasionally my runs unreliably I'd disconnect
everything including my TWGS and reseat all chips, cards and cables. Usually this
solved my problem. Since I had quite a few things apart when I did the conversion
a few years ago I probably decided to reseat everything too so it's conceivable
that I did move the cable. I always thought my problem was because my new
SCSI drive was a SCSI-2 drive. I tried 2 different drives with the same results
and everyone on CSA2 told me that SCSI-2 doesn't make a difference.
After awhile I gave up on my GS because I couldn't figure out what was wrong
and at the time CSA2 was becoming less and less useful due to all the flaming
going around.

I think the DIP connector were supposed to be gold. It's interesting to note on my
TWGS the connector on the board for the cable is just a regular pin type and the
AUX connector on the top is gold plated.

Yes, but if the system can't run reliably it's not much use to me. But I'm
determined to solve the problem now that I've hopefully got a handle on
some helpful info. Besides, I always wanted to do the speed upgrade since
Apple Expo West when I saw Frank Lim's 15MHz GS. The only thing stopping me
then was a lack of 2B GAL chips, which I now know aren't needed.

I actually saw one of his portable units at AEW 6 years ago. It's a
cool unit to be sure.

That would seem to be a computer to be feared. "Revenge Of The Apple II's"
