Help! Filetype $00 problems . . .
Help!
I am trying to get everything I will need to
do null modem transfers from a PC to my GS, and
plan to have System 6.0.1 running off of a Zip
drive.
I have a full set of System 6.0.1 floppies, and
have also downloaded GSHK and a terminal program
and moved them to a Prodos floppy via a Mac.
Now: here's my problem. I downloaded TCHANGE.BIN
to my PC and moved it to a Prodos floppy in the same
way so that I could change the filetype of
GSHK to S16 and run the self extracting archive.
According to the documentation, TCHANGE.BIN should
come through as a text file which you can BLOAD, and
then BSAVE to make BRUN-able file.
I get stuck at this point: PRODOS gives me a FILE
TYPE MISMATCH.
When I do a CAT, TCHANGE.BIN shows up as "$00",
just like GSHK and the terminal program.
Am I missing a step? The Mac I used to copy the
files to PRODOS floppies was running System 7.6.
Do I need to find a Mac with an earlier OS?
Any help gratefully appreciated.
