Zip Chip insertion problems

I was recently given a IIC and an uninstalled Zip Chip.  So, I tried to
install the Zip Chip into the IIC.  While the prongs on the chip will
start into the holes on the socket, it doesn't seem that the chip seats
as far down into the socket as the stock cpu chip.  Its as if the prongs
on the Zip Chip are too wide where they come out of the Zip chip, and
have been bent in an off-set to line up with the socket holes, which
keeps them from seating all the way into the socket.  

Has anyone been able to get one of these to work?  Ideas?
