Modems: The IIGS can use external modems and cables sold for
Macintosh computers. The built in port is capable of speeds of up
to 56k for serial modems and printers. Minimum recommended
modem speed is 14.4k, but since 28.8k modems are also cheap, why
not get the faster speed?
TCP/IP for the IIGS exists (capable of 32 sockets) and a web
browser of sorts is also here as is telnet.

Seven Hills has Spectrum, a telecom program that can use IIGS
TCP/IP, and Spectrum Internet Suite, a web browser.
http://www.intrec.com/ Intrec has ProTERM 3.1, useful if all
you need to do is access a shell account with a terminal.
Good luck!
By the way, since you are from AOL, try the following keyword:
aol://4344:1264.a2main.10029531.514525857
to get to the AOL Apple II Forum. Lots of software here too
(but not for internet access).
