Well, that is assuming that Louis has 5.25" drives hooked up to the
SmartPort on the back of the IIgs. He could have a couple of regular
Disk ][ drives hooked up to a controller in slot 6 which would mean
that he needs to have the control panel to have slot 6 set at "Your
Card". :-)
You can do some neat things because of the way the IIgs does this
stuff. If you have one or two 5.25" drives daisy-chained off the
SmartPort, you can disable access to the 5.25" drives completely
simply by changing slot 6 in the control panel to "Your Card". This
is nice so that you don't need to wait for them to be scanned when you
enter the Finder or use a standard file dialog and the drive icon(s)
don't take up any room on the Finder's desktop or in the standard file
dialogs when you don't need to access them.
If you do need to access a 5.25" disk, simply change slot 6 back to
"Disk Port" and reboot and you get to access your 5.25" drives again.
