Well I don't like to blow my own trumpet, but there is my QUITTER
program (freeware), usually renamed as QUITTER.SYSTEM and arranged to be
the first .SYSTEM file, so it is launched first at boot time.
QUITTER includes my improved version of Alan Bird's "Birds Better Bye",
which is a replacement for the standard ProDOS-8 quit code.
My improvements include displaying two columns of files (30 in total),
and a keypress to rescan the current drive (or hop back to the root
directory).
The only issue I can think of about using it on a II+ is the key
assignments: "select next volume" is the TAB key, for which you would
have to press Ctrl-I on the II+. It still supports the left and right
arrow for moving between files.
