as i understand the ProSel issue, it was released to the Public Domain and
it was uploaded to certain sites without any furthur notice. nobody was
asked what the release procedure(s) would be. nobody asked if there would
be an "official" site from which to acquire the software.

i'll grant you that this does not constitute piracy (by any stretch of the
imagination) since ProSel is now PD, but there wasn't any lag AT ALL
between the PD announcement and the upload. wouldn't it have been more
polite to allow the author of the software (or his duly-appointed
representative) to upload the stuff to a site, rather than turning it into
an apparent contest to see who can upload it before enyone else?!? did it
OCCUR to anyone that maybe (just MAYBE) the author might have a version
that would be the "official PD release", with matchin dox to support the
new status, and removal of any serial numbers (if they exist)?

wouldn't that be something to be resolved by the author and/or his
representatives?

understood. perhaps my statements (as they relate to ProSel) were too
harsh (and i humbly apologize for that), but the general application of my
statements will have to stand.
