Serial port access on ][c

  Hiya.  I've got an Apple ][c hooked up to my PC via a null modem cable.
Using PR#2, I can get my Apple to redirect output to the PC's serial port
(albiet very slowly, as the Apple has one of those crappy old ROMs that 
can't go above 1200bps), but for some reason, IN#2 does not allow me to 
redirect input.  Likewise, Crtl-I-2 does not allow me to redirect input
from the * prompt.  It just returns from the IN#2 command immediately, 
without the input being redirected to the PC.

  My question: What's going on? Should I be using a different command?
Is it because of the crappy ROM?
