Nope. Most likely, if you try to run the SCSI chain without at least
one drive that supplies termination power, you won't see your drives.
You won't damage anything. However, most drives supply their own
termination power, so there's really nothing to worry about. The
exception that comes to mind is Iomega drives like the Zip and Jazz.

You can find such terminators at most computer stores. However,
I think the Apple II SCSI card is already terminated. If so, then
you just need one additional terminator at the end of the SCSI chain.

The HS card is mainly useful for removable media like Zips, Jazzes,
and CD-ROM drives. It is an excellent card, but if you are just
going to use non-removable hard drives of not too large sizes,
the regular Rev. C card is ok. The other advantage of the HS card,
if I recall, is that it supports more partitions under GS/OS. But
with the advent of HFS on the IIGS, even my 1GB IBM SCSI drive
does not have too many partitions (I do have the HS card, but I
don't have to make too many partitions because I use HFS). ;-)
