Regarding the crack of Blazing Paddles in issue 31 of computist, the
missing information is "sync" as it was protected that way:
- I read sector X on track A
- I move the head to track B (and sometimes to other tracks) and read
a sector
If I have an original disk, then I should get sector Y or Z. If not, I
have a copy.
That is the on-disk protection method used there and it was not
described. The crack just removes the check, it still contains the
sync routine. A better crack would have been to remove calling the on-
disk protection routine.

A similar protection was used on Video Vegas, see my thread on
http://www.hackzapple.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=163

On the other answer from Linards regarding the volume number: yes,
setting the volume number in the filename and having an emulator
handling it, then it would be sufficient and prevent you from using a
NIB image.
