The port towards the front of the IIgs next to the speaker port IS a
digitizer.  The Ensoniq sound chip that is the heart of the sound in an
Apple IIgs has 8bit mono sound digitizing capabilities.

I think all you need to do is plug a microphone onto the jack, but it's been
a while since I experimented with my IIgs.  I don't have my pinouts handy,
but I could dig 'em up if somebody else doesn't post a response.
