              New Item "Rollout" announcement

BUGG-POWER IN IIGS CPU-CASING; INCLUDES SPACE
AND POWER PLUG FOR 3.5" HARD DRIVE
       =============================================

             $30 + $7 shipping; 200 watts capacity

"Its one small step for an Apple; one giant leap
                     for Apple-kind."

196 Apple II users are familiar with Bugg-Power --- my 150-200 watt
external power supply for the IIgs or IIe. The standard units are based
on the XT or AT versions of IBM power supplies. These units supply all
the
power needed by an Apple or its accessories. They are external and are
cpnnected to the IIgs by a 5 ft cable. They generate virtually NO HEAT
and feel dead-cold even after hours of operation.

My "flagship" Rom 3 IIgs, on which I now type, is being powered
by BUGG-POWER IN A IIGS CASING. The IIgs casing is on the floor and has
a rocker switch and an LED lamp as an indicator lamp.

I've got about five empty IIgs casings --- either the motherboards
were faulty or were transferred into "Stealth IIe's" --- IIgs in a IIe
casing.

How can a Bugg-Power unit fit INSIDE a IIgs casing? The standard
XT
or AT power units are physically too tall to fit inside this case. The
answer is the IBM power supply nicknamed as the "BABY-AT." This is the
power
supply used in mini-towers. It gives FULL POWER --- 150 watts or 200
watts.
The dimensions of the casing are: 6" x 5 1/2" a 3 1/2". It has a cooling
fan. The smaller size was achieved by eliminating the empty space inside.

Because there is no surplus space inside, the cable/wiring harness
has been left outside the casing on my previous Bugg-Power units using
Baby-AT. This unit is lighter in weight than the standard XT or AT
units, so I've sent them in the past to Apple users overseas or in Canada,
to minimize the shipping costs on those foreign shipments. (These units
have a 110v/220v AC input switch.)

CONSTRUCTION OF BUGG-POWER IN IIGS CASING:
-----------------------------------------

First, I removed all the sheet-metal shielding that lined the IIgs
CPU casing. The Bugg-Power cable was soldered to the Baby-AT and fully
insulated. Protruding plastic pieces inside the casing were removed. The
power supply was installed in the casing using non-conductive adhesive and
large cable-ties. The on-off indicator LED was installed in the front of
the casing, as was the DPDT on-off rocker switch. A power cable was
fitted through the back panel and into the Baby-AT.

The Baby-AT was installed off-center inside the IIgs case, in order
to allow empty space to accommodate a possible 3.5" HARD DRIVE. The
Baby-AT power supply is on the right side of the case and the empty "bay"
for the optional 3.5" power supply of on the left side of the IIgs case.
POWER for the optional hard drive is provided from either of two Molex-4
female plugs, which is the standard power plug for SCSI hard drives.
The SCSI back-panel port is NOT installed, but add an extra $10.00 and I
will
install a back-panel SCSI port. With that port, the unit would be
available
for you to "plug-and-play" your favorite 3.5" SCSI hard drive. I'd assume
that most users will use this unit just as a power supply, but if you WANT
to use that extra space to install a hard drive, it is there!

The main advantage of this unit is the more attractive appearance
of
the plastic CPU casing on the floor, rather than the bare metal of the
standard Bugg-Power unit. It looks like another IIgs resting on the
floor,
with only two cables --- the power cable (this can reach your SYSTEM-SAVER
IIgs), and also the cable going to the back of your IIgs on the desk.

Cooling is NO PROBLEM. As with standard XT or AT Bugg-Power units,
hardly any heat is generated at all. The back-panel socket-spaces are
open,
and convection air cooling is good, especially with removal of the sheet-
metal shielding.

       Baby-AT is RamFast-compatible. It lacks the "no-load auto-off"
feature that makes RamFast shut down.

PRICING: SAME AS STANDARD BUGG-POWER UNIT! Just $27 for the 150
watt
unit, or $30 for 200 watt unit. The first two units are both 200 watters,
but I have at least one 150 watter available on the shelf. I have five
empty IIgs casings ---- two more to arrive soon. The pricing is the same
as for the standard Bugg-Power units, but because of the extra weight,
UPS-ground shipping will cost $7.00 rather than the usual $5.00. As
with other Bugg-Power units, you can get a refund (less shipping) by
returning the unit for any reason.

As with all Bugg-power units, these will be fully pre-tested on my
own computers before shipping. Specify either IIgs or IIe power plug
(same price). I will continue to make the standard BUGG-POWER units; this
type inside the IIgs casing is just another option.

Can the Baby-AT fit inside your own computer's casing, with the
standard internal power supply removed? NO. This new Bugg-Power is still
external, resting on the floor. Its IIgs casing has no motherboard
inside.
I do not thing it would work to install it inside your computer; it should
be connected via the 5 ft cable, as an external unit.
