It figures that Apple would scrap the multi-color logo, it's one of
the neatest things about having a genuine Apple product.
I always wondered why someone would spray paint a perfectly nice
Apple II case. A guy at our Apple club used to bring his RED Apple to
the meetings. It looked horrible; but, it was certainly 'distinctive'.
Getting black paint off the case sounds like a nasty job. Your best
bet may be to lift out the logo plate (e.g. with a narrow bladed knife
and spritzes of WD-40 around the edges) and apply a couple coats of some
high quality white lacquer or epoxy paint. If it looks like the plate
can not safely be removed , you can tape over it and do a touch up after
the painting.
