First, S-Video, although sharing the same connector, is not the same
as ADB. Signal impedance is the important difference.
Secondly, there isn't much juice in ADB. Less than 600mA for the
whole bus. Just enough for a keyboard, a mouse and perhaps an extra
periph. My memory faintly recalls ADB bus extenders like they have
for USB now.
People think USB is some brand new stuff, but they don't consider
Apple had it ten years ago. Oh well.
