You can press Control-Reset. On Apple II's, doing a Reset does not
erase an Applesoft program; so, it makes a pretty good 'Stop'.

To some extent, many places do seem to make this assumption. You
can find the FAQs for this newsgroup on the home site (Ground) at ...

ftp://ground.ecn.uiowa.edu/apple2/Faqs/

Start with the first file. It includes answers to beginner questions and
has lists of other important sites and vendors. It also lists Questions
answered in the other FAQs files.

You can find line-formatted versions of the FAQs for on-line perusing
via Netscape, etc. at ...
 http://www.grin.net/~cturley/A2.FAQs.and.INFO/CSA2.FAQs/
 ftp://apple.cabi.net/pub/applegs/FAQs.and.INFO/A2.Csa2.FAQs/

As mentioned in the response to Dante, there are many possible
sources (e.g. Apple II vendors, universities and schools, Users Groups,
...). Probably, the best source is one of the regular posters on this
newsgroup.
