Help- ZRINIT instead of ZACK???

Okay, I'll try again.
 
USRobotics 14.4 modem.
ProTerm.
Dial up to 'net carrier, telnet to shell account.
Typing rz, and hitting Zmodem send at this end.
The file is a GIF.
CRC 16 FDX 8 Bit
The box pops up and starts counting off errors saying:
"Got ZRINIT instead of ZACK".
 
I have not found an apple person or other computer person that has yet
heard of that error.  Can anyone help here?

Btw, although I can't upload anything, I can download just fine.
