I feel your pain. Yes I did experience this same situation in 94. A stock
//e running a Mac Warehouse LineLink 14.4 modem. It drove me crazy for
awhile but I'm scratching my head as to how I solved it. So for the moment
let me suggest you consult your modem manual on how to force a connection at
9600 baud. Let us know what results you have then.
Let me clarify: Find the init string your modem needs to connect only at
9600. Rerun the ProTerm modem setup open apple I (I think) and add that
command to the default init string.
