Zlink is not good enough, I'm afraid. You need either ProTERM 3.1
from http://www.intrec.com/ Intrec or Spectrum from Seven Hills. Of
the two, although I use ProTERM myself, I'll have to recommend
Spectrum. With Spectrum, you get TCP/IP, a web browser of sorts,
and an FTP application that's just been released. If you only want
VT100 and Zmodem, then either Spectrum or ProTERM will do.

It is true that the IIGS control panel only goes up to 19.2, but you
have to remember that the control panel is only relevant for the
built in firmware terminal, a throwback to the IIe days and put there
for compatibility. When you are using software that takes
advantage of the IIGS, the software DOES NOT USE THE
CONTROL PANEL. Like the Macintosh cousin of the IIGS,
real IIGS communications software provide their own drivers
that support up to 57.6k. One such driver comes with the Harmonie
package of printer drivers. Another comes with Spectrum.
ProTERM has one built in.

The trick is to shift-boot. Certain extensions rob the IIGS of
interrupt time, which spoils the timing when using a modem.
If you've used an older (Quadra and before) Mac, you
will recognize the problem. Clocks, certain extensions, etc.,
can mess up the software.

Shift booting will prevent the bad extensions from loading
and will solve the problem.

Also, Zlink, as far as I know, does not support hardware
handshaking. For that, you need Spectrum or ProTERM.
Good luck!

ps: when set up properly, even an unaccelerated IIGS
will not drop characters in a 28.8 connection, for example.
Also, your modem shows up in the ProTERM 3.1 list, so
it is plug and play if you have ProTERM. Probably true
of Spectrum also.
