I've been shopping for a used low-cost SCSI external CD-rom player. The
main variable
that affects price is speed: 1x, 2x, 6x, 32x etc.
How important would this be for Apple IIgs or for Mac SE or Classic? I'd
expect that the main use would be for reading in the software. But why
would speed matter for that application?
High speed would sem to be more important for interactive real-time uses
like CD-rom games... Could a 1X, 2X, or 4X be sufficiently fast for use
with my IIgs fleet, or with the Macs (SE, Classic)?
[Yes folks, I have two Macs but they are used mainly for file-translation
or for college textbook test-bank test creation, for which Apple II
versions have been unavailable for the past five years.... I'm still an
A2 loyalist, _not a fifth columner!] Steve
