It already exists. Cirtech made one using CMOS static RAM.

In what way does the AE ramcharger not act like a hard disk?

Interesting. Difficult as there are no PC card sized slots in most Apple //
computers.

Would anyone be interested in a USB card for an Apple //?

Not the current design. I am working on one that will use Flash ROM chip(s)
so that would work for people without an EPROM burner. My lastest thought is
to add a 30 pin SIMM socket to the board and have it appear as two disks:
the first a ROM disk and the 2nd a RAM disk.

This is all still very early days but I may have a design by early next month.
