I'm not looking for a fight, Mitch. I'm just answering your
"I can't think of any example where it'd be okay in my
book asking some $300-$1000 for _any_ Apple II setup."
Yes, I understand that the SuperDrive card is rare and
laser printers and SVGA units work on other computers.
But you DID say "Apple II setup" and setup includes
the peripherals.

I meant LOADED IIGS systems (w/12.5Mhz TWGS or
15Mhz ZipGS, 1GB hard drives, laser printers, Zip
drives, CD-ROMs, etc.) are rarer. I'm not saying just
any IIGS system.
Again, I'm just answering your "I can't think of any
example" statement with an example.

I was being conservative. You never know what
you'd fine in those big office clearance sales.

I've still seen people selling and buying at $120, but you
are right...if Shreve really is selling for $69, I'd rather
have the new card. ;-)

Tony Diaz seems to think that the TWGS is better. It
runs a bit faster at a given Mhz and it can be upgraded
in more ways than a ZipGS.
For the ZipGS, you basically have the equivalent of
the "most slow down" of the "slow down GALs" in
the ASIC chip.

The pre-1.5 ROM cards are rare from reports I've
read and email I've gotten. Also, the 2A GALs work
fine with the RamFAST, it seems, if you install the
newer 14Mhz 65C816 chip and/or have a Rev. D
RamFAST. The 2A GALs ALWAYS work with an
Apple High Speed SCSI card.

I'm just giving an example. I know the setup I describe
is rare, but again you said you couldn't think of an
example.
But you yourself provided one at the end of your
followup, as seen above. ;-)
