Thanks for the replies.
Dave, you nailed it. When I got the GS, the 'puter was plugged into
left side of keyboard, mouse into right. I reversed 'em, per your suggestion, 
and the keyboard works fine, but still no mouse. Ergo, I need to
 resolder the left side connector, and try the mouse again.
Should the mouse work if plugged directly to computer (no keyboard)?
I have only one GS, one keyboard, and one mouse, so "known good"
parts swaps are not really an option.
