The mouse should work if plugged directly into the GS' ADB port with no
keyboard.  That would, however, make word processing and terminal
applications a little difficult to operate.  8-)

My suggestion is that you go ahead and fix the keyboard (=$free if you
have a soldering iron and a #2 Phillips screwdriver).  But for a nominal
fee, your local Macintosh dealer will sell you an ADB extension cable with
two ADB ports on it; in other words, another option would be to get one of
those two-port cables and plug the keyboard into one port, the mouse into
the other.  I almost did something like that myself when I had the
computer located to the right of and below my desk (now it is to the left
and below...), as I am right handed and prefer to have my mouse on the
right.  But that's another issue entirely... 8-)
