On different Sider pcb layouts discrete resistors were used instead of
the terminator network.

BTW: If you can read or write sectors to/from the drive your interface
card isn't faulty!

This works with the old ROM, I don't have the 1986 version:
* 0300:08 00 00 00 01 00 00 08   
* ctrl-F
* :03 00 00             <- load A with 03, Y with 00   
* C71AG
will read (08) one (01) sector starting from logical block 0 (0 00 00)
into memory location $800 (00 08). If this works, your hardware is okay.
