Do not throw them away. Send them to Clairemont High
School.

Contrary to what many people think, many school districts
do not have the funds for enough computers. Louis
Cornelio, a language teacher, has used Apple IIGS units
to do multimedia presentations, teach GUI principles
(you learn to use a IIGS, you KNOW how to use a Mac),
allow students that would otherwise have no access to
computers do word processing, and has even put his
entire school on the Internet thanks to the Apple IIGS.

His Apple IIGS units are now equipped with hard drives,
AppleTalk networked to a LaserWriter printer so the
documents that these kids produce look no different
than those produced by a Mac or PC.

How did Louis Cornelio do this? He has been collecting
Apple II units and hardware. The IIGS units, he saves.
The others, he brings up to specs and sells and uses the
money to buy hard drives, software, and peripherals for
the IIGS. He has won a HyperStudio grant, so he can
have free site license to use the HyperStudio authoring
program. That means his students learn the basics of
multimedia design and programming which are directly
applicable to HTML/web design and HyperCard for
the Mac (which is also available for the IIGS).

Contact clairmnt@n2.net (Louis Cornelio).

And also, http://www.crl.com/~joko Joe Kohn can put
you in touch with users groups that actively collect
Apple II units and give them to people who need them.

Remember, just because YOUR school district can
afford enough Macs and PCs for everyone, OTHER
school districts lack such funds and their students will
benefit GREATLY from an Apple II, especially a
IIGS.

Thank you.
