Re: Shiva Fastpath 4 - MyNetwork.txt (0/1)

Suggest moving this to comp.sys.mac.comm - others who may still be running
these routers can chip in. I seriously doubt you'll find many replies in
apple2 or other newsgroups.

Anyway, download the software from ftp://ftp.shiva.com/software/fastpath/
- read the readme files - depending on which version box you have you'll
have to use one program or the other.

Fire up Shiva Net Manager (if that is your choice) and choose a zone (or
the *) and FastPath from the list and click start search. Your box should
come up. Double-click on its name - the config should appear below. [I
am now working from 8 year old memories.] Click the appropriate down
arrow for the protocol (probably AppleTalk initially) that you want to
configure. Enter a unique net address for each segment (LT and Ethernet)
and zone information (the zone can be the same across both segments - if
there is only one zone on the network, no zones will show up).

Repeat for MacIP if you want to configure that.

Click save (or whatever) and then reboot the box. Config changes don't
take effect until the config is saved and the router rebooted.

All this assumes that the OS is already downloaded. If necessary,
download k-star first (before configuring the box). (The box can't be
configured if the OS isn't installed so the manager software will let you
know (I think) if you need to download the OS.)

That's the best I can do - if you have specific questions I may be able to
answer them - others in comp.sys.mac.comm may also be able to help. Like
I said, it's been a while since I last managed a fastpath.
