Yeah, yeah, I knew someone was going to give possible verses ABLE; the
answer is 3200 colors onscreen at one time (16 colors per scanline
times 200 scanlines).  YMMV.

Compared to the video boards available for the PC, which have come down
in price for units comparable to a Second Sight, yeah, but think of it
this way:  the snazziest video board for the PC costs about the same as
the snazziest video board for the GS.  :)  What other game in town?
