That's Binscii encoding, sort of the same idea as MIME
or uuencode, except specific for the Apple II.
Back up one step using your web browser, hilight the
link and press with the RIGHT mouse button instead
of the left. Then select DOWNLOAD and download
the file.
When you give this stuff to your friend, she'll be able
to unpack it using Binscii or GSCII+, but currently,
such unpacking must be done on a IIGS with a IIGS
program.
No one has yet written a Binscii decoder for the PC
or Mac.
Also check out http://ground.ecn.uiowa.edu/ the
ground ftp server. Most of the software there is stored
in binary format, which is easier for a IIGS to handle.
Just read about each file using the descriptions stored
in the <program name>.txt files. Then right click and
download the <program name>.shk files. .shk files
are the program archives and .txt files are the descriptions.
