A2gs to HP DeskJet 500 cable

I recently got a Hewlett-Packard DeskJet 500 ink jet printer.  I currently
am using a Juki 6100 daisy wheel printer.  The Apple IIgs to Juki cable
has 25 pins at the printer end, as would an Apple IIgs to DJ 500 cable.  I
realize that although the cables' printer ends have the same no. of pins,
they could be wired differently.  Does anyone know if the same cable would
work for both printers, or would I have to get a new cable for my DJ 500?
If I were to plug in the wrong cable, would the results be benign, i.e.
would it simply not work, or might I blow something out at either end?
