I have found an interesting device designed to read/write MFM disks on 800KB
drives on Mac512e/Plus/SE. I am going to see if it will work on a //gs.
It is the Kennect Rapport. It plugs into the Disk port and allows an Apple 3.5
to use the following formats:
800KB 720KB 1200KB
It also allows the Kennect Drive 2.4 to be plugged into it with the following
formats on HD disks:
1440KB 2400KB
The Rapport manual has a few cryptic lines mentioning the //gs in the
specifications so as yet I am not sure about plugging it into the //gs.
I picked it up for A$20 (it originally retailed for US$295).
The Rapport has 32KB ROM, 16KB RAM (or it might be the other way round)
and a 4MHz 65c02 and custom logic.
Kennect appears to no longer exist so if anyone has any further info on this
device I would appreciate it.
