GS modem troubles
I have an Apple IIGS (ROM Rev 3) 1.4MB system connected to a generic
33k6bps external faxmodem that I am trying to get working correctly.
I have setup Proterm 2.1 to use the GS's serial port and created a
modem entry with a default init string (AT&F) and can successfully
enter terminal mode through Open-apple CTRL-T.
Now the problem. I have set the port speed of my system entry to
19.2Kbps and also entered two AT commands at the terminal mode which
will lock the modem at a DCE rate of 14.4Kbps (ATS37=11, ATN0). Every
time I try to dial a system I get a successful connection but no
echo-response from the remote. Data is definitely comming down the
line and the AT&F enables echoing by default. I suspected my modem
cable isn't fully RTS/CTS compliant or the handshaking is wrong.
BTW, The modem cable is the Mini-DIN type used on most Mac systems.
Any ideas? Do I need a GS-specific modem cable?.
