Below is some info on game controls. Since the list comes from
Beyond Castle Wolfenstein, I've placed a * by the ones which seem not to
work for the original Castle Wolfenstein.
To Move, use Joystick or Keys
Q W E
A S D
Z X C
To Aim, use Keys or press "fire button" and use Joystick (When using
the Joystick, you must release the button and stick at the same
time for the aim to take effect.)
I O P
K L ;
, . /
L to shoot gun
<stick> to shoot gun press Joystick "second button"
H* to holster gun
<stick> to holster gun press Joystick "fire button" with stick
centered
:* to switch weapons
B to drop/pick up bomb
R to reset bomb
1-5 to show pass
M* to bribe guards
F to use first aid kit
U to use contents of open closet
CTRL-T to use tool kit
CTRL-K to use keys
RETURN to list personal supplies
ESC to end play and save (also to exit demo)
To Unlock a locked closet aim gun at closet and use number
keys (0-9) for 3-digit combination
To Open a closet or door aim gun at closet and press SPACE
To Search dead guards stand over body and press SPACE
*To Drag dead guards stand near body, aim gun at body,
and press SPACE
Notes: I'm not sure that you can not bribe guards in the original
Wolf or that you do not find a knife (to use with the swap
weapons command). I _think_ these were features added with
Beyond Wolf.
One neat trick for dealing with tough SS guards (from Sean Williams
in Computist #8) is to quickly approach them, aim, and press "U" to
get their bullet-proof vests. This makes them much easier to kill.
Michael Procrass (in Computist #16) notes that holding the SPACE
bar (and pressing the Repeat key if you have one) will speed up
the countdown for Searches.
Andrew Lundsten (in Computist #19) observes that an SS guard on
your trail follows your exact path. This could be useful info.
Michael Cook (in Computist #47) warns to not kill an SS guard in
front of a door. You will not be able to open the door because,
when you press SPACE, the program will think you want to Search
the guard. Also, you can zap an enemy you leave behind at a
double-wide exit by moving over one square in the room you enter
and, then, re-entering the room you just left (i.e. landing on top
of the enemy).
