The A9M0106 is the standard 800k Apple 3.5" drive as used with the
IIgs and IIc+. There is some repair information in the CSA2FDISK.TXT
FAQs file at ...
http://www.grin.net/~cturley/A2.FAQs.and.INFO/CSA2.FAQs/
ftp://apple.cabi.net/pub/applegs/FAQs.and.INFO/A2.Csa2.FAQs/
ftp://ground.ecn.uiowa.edu/apple2/Faqs/
http://ground.ecn.uiowa.edu/apple2/Faqs/
Mainly, the information relates to cleaning and swapping in drive
mechanisms (e.g. from a Mac). There is also some info on getting around
a GS/OS glitch which occasionally causes a 3.5" drive to not be
recognized.
So far, I have not come upon any details for doing head replacement
or alignment on the 3.5" Apple drives. (One reason may be that new Sony
R/W heads are expensive and a hassle to find.) The usual fix for a
drive with bad or dislodged heads is find a replacement drive or swap in
a known good mechanism.
